As a Spurs fan I was really disappointed when we allowed him to leave, so much potential to become a one of the best and listening to him hear I'm convinced he will. Good luck to him at Elland Road.

@@andrewward2010 Perhaps, but Archie is still very young with a much higher ceiling so they'll be actively looking to bring on his talents unlike Rodon who was considered a squad player by Spurs at best.

I don't think a lot of people realise how much of a massive coup this is getting JR back on permanent transfer.... He turned down at least 3 prem clubs to come back here. The footballing brain he has is second to none, some of the defensive clearances he made last season were unreal ! I for one am really happy at this signing, even though it mean Archie going the other way!!

To tamp down the coup-ness slightly, the other clubs linked to Rodon were the newly promoted teams Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich, all of whom are expected to be in the relegation zone next season, so another season with Leeds winning games with his mates and fellow countrymen and a likely promotion with a much more financially stable club at the end of it wasn't that difficult a choice vs. the awful grind of bring near the bottom of the Premier League all season. Leeds also had Archie Gray to dangle in front of Tottenham's noses, which must have smoothed the way.

@@EnglishMike Pretty sure that agreeing to their Archie offer was the only way we had the chance to get Rodon. It's why I think that the Archie business was good business all said and done.

I don't think it's certain that Rutter is staying. He's still available for the right price, I suspect, but the club is unlikely to find anyone willing to pay that much.
